Wife of a Financial Professional

Because of the recent financial catastrophe in this country we have suffered financially quite a bit not to mention the stressors of moving to a new market (NC from CA). This means Brad has to work extra hard and we both stress extra much about his job, well his work actually. I have had to help him out because with all the work of promoting our company Magnum Opus Financial Brad has found it difficult to keep up with everything that his job requires on his own and we just can't afford to pay for help right now. So recently I have spent a lot of hours in his "employ" doing jobs that I would never in a million years want to do but I do it because I want Brad to succeed and I knwo what he does is important.

I have always known the details of what Brad does but I have never felt more than I do now that he is most definitely underpaid. Most individuals who call themselves "financial advisors" are really just salespeople. I think I want to repeat that, most people who call themselves financial advisors are really just salespeople. Did you get that? Well I say this because usually financial advisors will meet with a potential client, sell them life insurance, auto insurance, or some kind of mutual fund and then move on with life and never look back. Yet, they are all getting paid trail commissions on your money! How is is that someone gets paid over and over for something they only do once? So most "financial advisors" are definitely OVERpaid and UNDERworked.
Not Brad. He spends all day while markets are open watching his clients money. He calls/emails them regularly and ALWAYS takes their calls, even if by every sense of the word he is currently "off-duty". He adjusts his client's portfolios as the markets change. As a result, his clients are VERY happy, even in spite of the drastic recession last year because he was on top of recovering all of the money they might have lost.

I really DISLIKE the stock market and insurance subjects. It is NOT my idea of interesting conversation but I still know after all these years and after having been securities licensed myself for a brief time early in Brad's career what it really does take to be a good "financial adviser". And Brad is quite brilliant when it comes to picking the right investments. The proof is in the pudding so they say. I get so frustrated though how very little he actually makes for all the work he does. I GREATLY appreciate his work because what he does to educate people is soooo needed in today's world of living beyond one's means, being underinsured, not saving, and going about investing in totally the wrong ways and all for a lack of education. So here's to our company Magnum Opus Financial and our goal to educate the world through financial literacy.
